Dear Members, Parents, and Friends:

1.    MANOA SHUTDOWN ** REPAIRS!

HSK has been notified by Noelani Elementary School that repairs scheduled for their office will prevent us from training in their cafeteria for about three (3) weeks!  They are planning to store all of their equipment and supplies in the cafeteria while repairs are made. 

HSK apologizes for the inconvenience, but encourages all Manoa members and families to continue their training at our Kaimuki branch, located at Liliuokalani Elementary School.  Our Kaimuki branch trains on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginners at 5:30 and advanced at 6:30 pm.  As it now stands, we will not be able to use the facilities at Noelani from June 25 through July 13.  Please mark your calendars.  See Sensei or a Senpai should you have any questions or concerns.

Again, our most humble apologies!

2.    PICNIC CANCELLED! 

                  HSK regrets to inform our members that our annual picnic, scheduled for July, has been cancelled due to the repairs planned at Noelani.  Our beach training, however, scheduled in August, is still on!!!

3.  WELL, IT�S ABOUT TIME, HSK!!!

For those of you who haven�t heard, HSK now has a web site!  Yup, thanks to the efforts and generosity of Clifford Lau (recently presented with the �Tom Sekiguchi Most Inspirational Member� award), HSK is currently developing our very own web site!!  That�s right!  Isn�t that cool?  Those interested can log on to www.hawaiishotokankarate.com to see the latest on our web site development.  How exciting!!!  Any comments or helpful suggestions?  You can e-mail us at  hawaiishotokankarate@hotmail.com.

4.  GREEN BELT EXAM

                        HSK's next exam for all blue belts seeking green belt ranking, and green belts seeking second green ranking is scheduled for Saturday, June 22, from 9 am to 12 pm at Noelani.  As always, all members considering to take this exam will need a Senpai's okay and signature.  Unless personally notified, school reports will not be necessary for this exam.

                        To avoid a late fee, deadline for all exam forms and fee is Thursday, June 20.

 5.  HSK SCHOLARS AND SUPERSTARS

                        With the end of the school year comes report cards and awards!  HSK would like to recognize those students who worked hard to earn such honors.  All members, grades 7 to 12, who have earned a GPA of 3.5 or better for the second semester of this school year, please bring your report cards to class and show it to Sensei or a Senpai.

                        Also, any student (grades K through 12) who has earned a school-wide award this past semester, or will be a class or school officer next year, please show your award or inform Sensei or a Senpai.  We would like to reward you for your efforts by listing your name in our next newsletter so that our karate ohana can acknowledge your outstanding achievements!

                        Deadline for report cards and awards is Wednesday, July 10.

6.     SUMMER HAPPENINGS
