CLUB PARTY  September 12, 2026

Wonderful company, amazing snacks, pupus and desserts generously donated by our families, a "Sensei Says" (aka "Simon Says") game for our keiki, and a yummy dinner buffet to enjoy!! A PERFECT way to celebrate HSK's 43rd anniversary!!!

Special thanks to Senpais Tracy and Ann for the AWESOME centerpieces and popcorn favors that they provided, to the brown and purple belts for helping with the setup and arrangements, Jim for his emcee expertise, and Mikey for making "Sensei says!" so challenging!!!

To add to the excitement, three new brown belts and one veteran were presented with their promotion certificates, earned by overcoming a brutal exam taken the week before!  Mike Ng was awarded Ni-kyu (2nd brown), while Malissa Iida-Takashima, Austin Toma, and Linda Martini broke into the elite brown level to receive their San-kyu certificates.  Senpai Emi Brown was unable to make it to the party due to a prior commitment, and was given her certificate on the following training day.  Congratulations to these Senpais, as they climb their way up the steep mountain toward their Shodan (black belt)!!!

Next, to prove that they ARE "normal", like everyone else, the Senpais each told the audience a little bit about themselves and why they've been with HSK for SO long.  At the party, Sensei proudly announced that the number of years our 8 Senpais have been with HSK total an AMAZING 200!!! 

Enough excitement for the night???  I think NOT!  Finally, Sensei surprised five (5) of our Senpais with certificates promoting them to their next dan!!!  As he explained, these five Senpai have made it a point to get to the dojo early at each practice and ready the dojo for training.  "These five have continuously spent their time, energy, love, and yes, even money, to ensure that our members enjoy the comforts of a clean and tidy dojo," stated Sensei.  "In my eyes, what these five have done for me and our members far outweighs their training performance!!  They do all this NOT because I ask them to, but because they WANT TO!!!"

Senpais Tracy, Alan, and Ray each received their San-dan certificates, Senpai Scott accepted his Yon-dan certificate, and Senpai Cliff was awarded a Go-dan certificate for his outstanding job as lead Senpai!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEWLY PROMOTED BROWNS AND DANS!!!
