Taking Shotokan karate as a child and through my early teens instilled in me the importance of focus, self-discipline and perseverance.  I truly feel blessed to be an instructor and member of HSK and consider Sensei, his wife Paula, as well as my fellow instructors to be part of my  “family.”  The aforementioned attributes gained from my early training years, as well as the support of my HSK “family,” enabled me to have the fortitude to get through the toughest 3-year period of my adult life.  This support also gave me the strength to be a better father to my daughter, Courtney, and son, Treyjan.  For this, I am eternally grateful.
