Unsu has been considered the "Mother" of all Shotokan katas because of its intense speed, power, difficulty, and its stunning grace and flow.  This kata puts you right in the middle of the battle field -- from dropping to the ground to avoid strikes and kicks, to 'flying" in the air to avoid strikes to the legs!  It is because of this level of difficulty that you will rarely see it performed in competition.


Son Rylan was awarded first place for this performance in an open tournament with competitors from around the State in March of 1998.
